About us

TOGETHER WE ARE ONE

Global One Bangladesh is a UK-based women-led international development NGO created in 2013 under the leadership of Dr. Husna Ahmed OBE.

Our approach is unique – we use faith and culture as tools for increasing knowledge and promoting positive behavioural change in communities.

We also partner locally to create sustainable development solutions in Global Health, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) etc.

We believe the answer to global inequality lies in leadership from all sections of society, including women. Global One is therefore proud to have a majority women board, and a platform that gives diverse women from all backgrounds the opportunity to lead the organisation.

We actively train and support women leaders of the future through our projects, consultancy services and within the organisation.

Since our establishment, we have created and delivered innovative and sustainable projects in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Somaliland, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, Lebanon, Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan, and the UK.

Our Vision

A world where women of all beliefs are empowered to make their own choices and transform their communities, inspired by an understanding of faith and cultural perspectives.

Our Mission

To develop innovative sustainable solutions that are faith-inspired and improve the livelihoods and well-being of all women.

Our Values

Compassion

We work with a faith and culturally sensitive approach to helping women, children and their communities. In doing so we believe in showing kindness, consideration and tolerance to all.

Integrity

We believe in showing complete transparency, honesty and openness in everything we do. We therefore maintain the utmost professionalism and highest standards in our work and expect the same of our partners.

Dignity

We uphold the dignity of women and girls by providing them with their basic needs. Above all giving them increased confidence and security in their daily lives.

Respect

We see the potential and significance in all people regardless of beliefs. We work to help people realise their worth, thus giving them the resources to secure a brighter future.

Empowerment

We believe in giving women and girls the tools to make change happen, giving new hope to communities affected by poverty and disaster.

Our principles

Humanity

Human suffering must be addressed whenever it is found. The purpose of humanitarian action is to protect life and health and ensure respect for human beings.

Impartiality

Humanitarian action must be carried out on the basis of need alone. Consequently, giving priority to the most urgent cases of distress and making no distinctions on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class or political opinions.

Neutrality

Humanitarian actors must not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

Independence

Humanitarian action must be autonomous from the political, economic, military or other objectives that any actors may hold with regard to areas where humanitarian action is being implemented.
